Chef Recruiters are working with a well-established, high-volume restaurant in Galway, currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Sous Chef to join their culinary team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven chef who is ready to take on more responsibility, contribute to menu development, and lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
This Galway-based restaurant operates seven days a week, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner – with the Sous Chef role focused primarily on dinner and evening service. Immediate start available for the right candidate.
About the Role:
As Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in assisting the Head Chef with the overall management of the kitchen. You will be responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring that food is prepared to the highest standards, and that service runs smoothly during busy periods. You will also help with team management, stock control, and ordering.
In the absence of the Head Chef, you will be expected to step up and take full control of the kitchen, ensuring quality, consistency, and efficiency are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef with menu planning, development, and daily specials
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, ensuring smooth and efficient kitchen operations
- Ensure the highest standards of food quality and presentation are met at all times
- Oversee the preparation and cooking of dishes, managing your section during service
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and maintaining kitchen inventory
- Ensure that kitchen cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards are consistently met
- Lead and train junior staff, helping them improve skills and work efficiently
- Take full charge of the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence, ensuring continuity and quality of service
- Maintain and ensure proper use of kitchen equipment
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a senior kitchen role in a high-volume kitchen
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm and efficient working environment
- Experience with grill and seafood preparation is highly desirable
- A passion for food and the ability to inspire the team with your creativity and professionalism
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
